Bio:  Julius Brecht

Past: Physicist working at NASA, then changed careers and became an attorney and moved to Alaska.

Recently ran the 2003 Boston Marathon and in the 2003 Mayor’s Marathon here in Anchorage.

Julius Brecht provides legal services primarily in the areas of corporate, securities, banking, and finance practices.  He advises clients, including Alaska native corporations subject to special exemptions and regulations, and prepares a wide variety of offerings for registration and opinions under state and federal securities laws.  His work before the Securities and Exchange Commission and state securities regulators includes registrations, filings and opinions under the Securities Act of 1933, the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, and state securities law for clients including publicly-traded securities.  He advises private and public entities and other clients on various aspects of state corporate law and state and federal securities law, banking and finance law, regulation and issuing opinions on that law.  He was instrumental in organizing the Alaska Trust Company, the first independent trust company in Alaska.  He has been involved in extensive drafting of agreements and legislation for private and public entities.  For example, he was the drafter of the Alaska Municipal Port Authority Act legislation.  He has served as a hearing officer for state agencies in procedures conducted in accordance with the Alaska Administrative Procedure Act and has served as an arbitrator for the National Association of Securities Dealers and the Pacific Coast Stock Exchange.
