Polar Expressions is the monthly publication of Mensa Alaska.  We reserve the right to edit for purposes of clarity and space, and to decide if or when a submission will be published.  The deadline for submissions to the October edition is September 13. All submissions should be sent to the editor at the return address on this publication. Please limit your letters/articles to not more than 250 words. Preferred media for contribution to Polar Expressions is on an IBM compatible disk, in MS Word for Windows 2, 6, 7, or higher, or Publisher 2000.  Legible hard copy is also accepted, however, the rougher your copy, the earlier the submission.  Submit articles to Norma via e-mail.
For more information on submissions, call Norma. Material not bearing a specific copyright may be reprinted by other Mensa publications, providing that  it is credited to Polar Expressions.

Imagine my shock a couple of weeks ago when I got home from another disgusting day at the salt mine, and found on the recorder a message from someone volunteering to be the new editor.  I called Lorna Joliffe back, and the first thing I asked her was if this was a late April’s Fool joke.  It wasn’t and I am thrilled.  You will be too!!  Not that I won’t be helping from time to time, and contributing here and there.  And you thought you could get rid of me so easily.
Lorna is a long time member of the group, though we hadn’t seen her for quite awhile.  After being laid off from VECO several years ago, she qualified for retraining and decided she would finally finish her degree.  She just graduated and hasn’t found the perfect employment opportunity yet, but wants to keep busy.  Please welcome her to her new job, and help her all you can.  Until next time, travel safely.
